Casting charm Mahakala

Postby Joyi Q » Fri Oct 27, 2017 10:06 pm

I would like to present my new production. Build up in wax and then casted in sterling sliver, hollow inside , The inspiration of the work originally from buddhist monk, he is called Mahakala. Just google it if you interest the story behind Mahakala.

Hello Joyi,

Nice bit of wax work and casting.

Interesting subject.

Here is a link to wikipedia for those interested.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mah%C4%81k%C4%81la

A couple of questions.

1. Did you use vaccuum or centrifcal or maybe another form of casting?

B. I noticed a ringed texture (pink) on what could be the gate or sprue.
Was that just a support? Or was that the gate. If so what is the purpose of the rings?

Thanks for posting. :)

Hi Dave
Thanks for your reply
I did use the centrifugal casting technique. The object is hollow,so was not very hard for casting.
The pink stick is just a handle for me to hold during the waxing stage, nothing special
