I'm new to this forum and I have been studying how to make my own fuchi and kashira.
Recently I made a set (mild steel plate and wooden male) and made copper some pieces, but I'm not very satisfied with the results.
I'm planning to make a steel male too but I would like to understand some things better before going that way, so basically I have 3 questions:
1- Is the die used for fuchi the same used for kashira?
2- If so, how do you shape a flat surface at the fuchi? By cutting and soldering a flat piece at the top?
3- In my case, I noticed that after some hammering, the material tends to wrap over itself making it nearly impossible to continue working, even with annealed copper. Is there a way to avoid this?
I'm sorry if any of this questions sound obvious, but I couldn't figure it out by myself.
Thanks in advance
